Frosty the Snowman leads countdown for tree lighting on Stepney Green

Families drank hot chocolate and ate doughnuts made by Boy Scout Troop 62 on a cold night on Stepney Green Saturday, as the choral group, Just Voices sang Christmas carols. Greg Loehr performed a reading of “T’was the Night Before Christmas” for the children, while everyone awaited the arrival of Frosty the Snowman.

First Selectman Ken Kellogg and The Rev. Kevin Merritt, of Stepney Baptist Church, were guest speakers at the Save Our Stepney Task Force’s 18th annual tree lighting.

Firefighters brought Frosty to the celebration in a Stepney fire truck and the famous snowman led the countdown to the lighting of a the holiday tree.
