FAIRFIELD, CT — Masuk High’s girls golf team claimed the South-West Conference championship at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course on Tuesday. The Panthers shot 391 to come out on top. Immaculate of Danbury was second with 405 and Newtown third with 406.
Carrie Wittenauer carded a 91, Kate Wittenauer had a 107, Izzy Roy 96, Lauren Breyan 98 and Elissa Campos 106.
“The girls have been practicing hard for this chance and they all put together good rounds at the same time,” Masuk Coach Bob Pagel said.
The Panthers had to contend not only with tough competition, but also approximately 90 degree heat.
“All the girls had to deal with the hot weather today,” Pagel noted. “It’s a great group of girls I couldn’t be more proud of the team effort.”
