MONROE, CT — Sparked by a pair of career-high performances the Masuk High girls basketball team rebounded from a tough loss with a 57-37 win over visiting Stratford on Friday night.
Bailey Bajda netted a career-high 25 points and Grace Sheppard drained a career-best six 3-pointers for all 18 of her points.
Masuk put up 52 points through three quarters of play.
The Panthers were coming off late-January losses to Notre Dame and New Milford and improved to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in South-West Conference play.
Masuk is competing for one of the eight conference playoff spots and has four SWC games remaining — against one of the SWC’s best, Pomperaug of Southbury; a team battling Masuk and others for an SWC berth, Joel Barlow of Redding; and two struggling teams in Bunnell of Stratford and Weston.
The next game is Tuesday, Feb. 4, when Masuk visits Bunnell at 6 p.m. The Panthers are home the next night to take on non-conference opponent Amistad at 5:30 as Masuk looks to bolster its state playoff positioning.
