Blue skies, a bright sun peak through the clouds for First Selectman’s Golf Outing

Golfers wait for the 12:30 p.m. shotgun start during the annual First Selectman's Golf Outing at Whitney Farms Golf Course Friday afternoon.

MONROE, CT — As golfers awaited the shotgun start for the annual First Selectman’s Golf Outing Friday, First Selectman Ken Kellogg joked that a weather forecast predicting rain made him feel like Superintendent of Schools Joseph Kobza deciding whether or not to have school during a snowstorm.

But by the afternoon, clouds opened up to a deep blue sky and rays of bright sunshine peaked through.

Close to 50 golfers participated in the fundraiser for the Monroe First Foundation, raising over $10,000 for community organizations. Kellogg thanked all of the event’s participants and sponsors.

The Monroe First Foundation provides grants to:

  • Monroe Playground Foundation
  • Monroe Scholarship Fund
  • Masuk Post-Prom
  • Masuk All Sports Booster Club
  • Masuk Parent Teacher Club
  • Masuk Music Parents Association
  • Monroe Senior Center Activities Fund
