Basketball tournament to raise funds for Pete Simoulidis Scholarship Fund

Legendary Jockey Hollow basketball coach, Pete Simoulidis, talks to his players during a game.

MONROE, CT — A three-on-three basketball tournament at Wolfe Park on Saturday, Aug. 2, will raise money for the Pete Simoulidis Scholarship Fund, honoring the legacy of its namesake, the beloved coach and mentor.

Panagiotis “Pete” Simoulidis, a married father of two, the longtime boys basketball coach at Jockey Hollow Middle School and a founder and coach of the Monroe travel basketball program, died suddenly on July 12, 2023 at age 44.

The Pete Simoulidis Scholarship Fund benefits a graduating basketball player, who exemplifies the same joy for basketball, leadership and kindness as Coach Pete.
