Bacoulis no-hits Kolbe in blowout and Gallant one-hits Immaculate

MONROE, CT — Julia Bacoulis threw a no-hitter to lead the Masuk softball team past host Kolbe Cathedral 19-0 in a five-inning mercy-rule triumph on April 11. 

Coach Leigh Barone’s Panthers opened up the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run by Natalie Sarah Falcone. Kathryn Gallant, Sofia Lieto and Alyssa Castillo also hit homers. Izzy Viglione and Sofia Lieto each collected 3 hits to lead the Panthers.

Masuk bested visiting Immaculate 8-0 two days later to improve to 3-1. Kathryn Gallant threw a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts and the Panthers banged out 13 hits.

Natalie Lieto went 2-for-4 with two singles. Ella Bunovsky and Gallant both went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI. Emma West-Testo went 3-for-4 with three singles and two runs scored. Julia Bacoulis went 1-for-2 with a single and two RBI. Sofia Lieto went 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI and Ava Moretti went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
