MONROE, Conn. — Masuk High’s boys lacrosse team had a dominant performance en route to an 8-1 win over visiting Waterford on Saturday. The Panthers improved to 2-3
Jack Garofalo scored three goals, Cole Henderson had two goals and an assist and Michael Benedetto and Aaron Champagne both had a goal and two assists to lead the offense.
Jake Viglione had a goal and Evan Taylor recorded an assist. Viglione, Damian Tamaszewski and Jake McGee each had three ground ball scoops. Michael Charland and Evan Taylor both had two ground balls. Goaltender Jake Kyle made nine saves.

Masuk built a 5-0 lead before finally surrendering a goal early in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers got the momentum right back with one of Henderson’s net-finders.
Pretty pass work was on display, including when Garofalo finished a sequence assisted by Benedetto who took a pass from Charland.
The Panthers are led by their Kyle in net and the defenders in front of him given their experience.
“Defense and goalie — that’s the heart and soul of our team,” Masuk Coach Terry Stroz said.
The D includes Viglione, Champagne, Charland, Colton Mentes, Daniel Balestriere and Tamaszewski. That group helped spark the offense with Masuk converting several goals in transition.
Masuk’s offense is not as seasoned as the defense, but is developing, making progress and putting up points.
“Our young guys are getting confidence and making the plays they’re supposed to make,” Stroz said.
The Panthers defeated host New Milford 9-4 for its other win. They visit Bethel Tuesday at 6 p.m.
