Monroe Republicans shake their fist and provide no innovative solutions

To the Editor,

In response to Councilman O’Rourke’s letter

Thank you, Superintendent Kobza, for fighting for the children of Monroe each and every day. I hope your testimony to the Education Committee gets Monroe its fair share.

I cannot help but be concerned that the Republican Super Majority in Monroe may be tilted towards taking away the people’s ability to vote on a fully funded budget as they’ve done the past couple of years. After all, it’s much easier to do what they want and not listen to their constituents.

I am also concerned that the Republican majorities on the Town Council, Board of Education, Board of Finance, and the First Selectman aren’t listening to the people that elected them to their positions and running roughshod over the process just because they can.

It has been Monroe’s ruling political party’s position that Hartford is full of mean, evil Democrats, yet local Republicans shake their fist and provide no innovative solutions just cut, cut, cut, and cut some more because that’s easy. Let me pose to fellow Monroevians about our town what our state representative likes to say about Hartford all the time — how’s that one-party rule working out for you?

Regards,

Nicholas Kapoor
