MONROE, CT — The Monroe Police Department is hosting its annual Stuff the Gazebo Toy Drive on the town green this Saturday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The toy drive benefits the Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport.
The center serves victims and families impacted by domestic and sexual abuse in the communities of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull.
At this time of year, many victims and families in these communities have left abusive situations, often leaving primary caregivers in need of financial assistance to provide gifts for their children during the holiday season.
Every year, CFJ provides gifts for anywhere from 200 to 250 children ranging from age one to 18. This year the center requested new unwrapped toys and gift cards.
Some toys that are popular with children are Marvel Super Hero Action Figures, LOL Dolls, anything Dinosaurs, Lego Sets, Barbies and Cabbage Patch Dolls.
Monroe police officers invite members of the public to come out and give these children the happy holiday season they deserve.
