MONROE, CT — Aly Oleyar, a Masuk High School senior, is doing her Capstone Project with The Center for Family Justice this year.
Oleyar will work with campus advocacy, visiting college campuses to spread the word about the services and programs CFJ offers to assist victims and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
“I have a family friend that works there who introduced me to it,” Oleyar said Wednesday. “When I go to college, I want to go into human development and social work.”
The Masuk student attended CFJ’s annual Speaking of Women luncheon at The Waterview in Monroe Wednesday afternoon.
“It was so cool and the speaker was so good,” she said of keynote speaker Rachel Luise Snyder, author of the book, “No Visible Bruises: What We Don’t Know about Domestic Violence Can Kill Us”.
“It gave me insight of what people go through and the stories,” Oleyar said of the event. “It’s inspiring.”
