Celebration of Reading promotes critical thinking in Monroe’s elementary schools

MONROE, CT — Monroe’s three elementary schools were full of excited guest readers Monday morning, marking the district’s annual Celebration of Reading. Organized by the Monroe Schools Parents Council and sponsored by The Rotary Club of Monroe, each of the 74 grades K-5 classrooms received a new hardcover children’s book that was read to them by local volunteers. Masuk boys volleyball team blanks Bunnell

STRATFORD, CT — Coming off a hard-fought 3-2 setback to host Shelton on Tuesday, the Masuk High boys volleyball team beat Bunnell on the road 3-0 on Wednesday. Against Bunnell, Masuk won three relatively close sets, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-21. Dan Ferris had 11 kills and Nathan Kurkoski 29 assists to lead the way.
