Standout performances by Masuk boys and girls track athletes

NEW BRITAIN, CT — Masuk High School’s girls and boys track and field athletes competed in the Class MM State Championships at Willowbrook Park in New Britain on June 1. Here are some highlights:

Girls

Ashley Colberg (junior) 5th place 1600m run 5:33.68, advanced to State Open

Caroline Wittenauer (senior) 5th place high jump 4-8, advanced to State Open

Ella McGee (freshman) 2nd place 200m dash 25.59, advanced to State Open. Broke school record and qualified for New Balance Nationals (June 15-18 at Franklin Field, University of Pennsylvania)

Girls 4×800, 4th place 10:32.56, Advanced to State Open – Ashley Colberg (junior), Emma Sheppard (freshman), Molly Halliday (senior), Erin Davis (sophomore)

Girls 4×100, 7th place 50.74 – Ella McGee (freshman), Emily Haye (sophomore), Grace walker (sophomore), Kylie Hurme (sophomore)

Girls 4×400 8th place 4:16.87 – Ava Jackson (sophomore), Ella Mcgee (freshman), Emily Haye (sophomore), Erin Davis (junior)

Boys

Tristan Smith (junior) 6th place shot put 45-7.5 and 5th place discus 143-3, advanced to State Open

4×400, 3:33.86 – Ethan Palmich (junior), Sean Panella (sophomore), Tariq Al-Hameedo (sophomore), Shane Walker (sophomore)
