STORRS, CT — Masuk High’s softball team, the top team in the bracket, won its seventh straight state championship with a 3-0 win over No. 2 Waterford in the Class L tournament finale at the University of Connecticut on Sunday.
Sofia Lieto earned championship game MVP accolades. She doubled, walked and drove in two runs. Josie Lieto doubled, tripled and knocked in a run.
Masuk scored a run in the second and two in the fourth to back pitcher Julia Bacoulis, who allowed just three hits, walked three and struck out a dozen.
