Robert M. Fox was devoted to his family and his faith

Robert M Fox

Robert M. Fox, age 79 of Southbury, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his devoted wife and caregiver by his side on Saturday, December 9, 2023. He was the husband of Kathleen (O’Toole) Fox. Bob was born September 9, 1944 in Bridgeport, the son of the late Richard and Irene (Helgert) Fox. He was a graduate of Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army.

Bob was an accountant and worked for many years at U.S. Tobacco in Greenwich. He loved the outdoors and the beach, spending hours in his garden of which he took great pride. He was a sports fan, never missing a UConn women’s basketball game.

A longtime and devoted Boston Red Sox fan, Bob was honored to play on the same adult softball team with his five sons, showing just how much he enjoyed baseball and loved his family. Bob was a man of great faith and commitment to his Roman Catholic religion serving as Eucharistic Minister, first at St Jude’s in Monroe and most recently at Sacred Heart in Southbury. He could always be found administering the Eucharist to the home bound and ill.

There was nothing more important to Bob and Kate than their family. Bob instilled in his children a strong work ethic and the importance of family. He was the very foundation of joy, growth, and faith for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his wife Kate of 57 years, are his five sons and their families: Timothy and his wife Tina of Orange; Michael and his wife Kelly of New Port Richey, Fla.; Patrick and his wife Robin of Big Canoe, Ga.; Kevin and his wife Sonia of Spain; and Robert Jr. and his wife Je-nean of Stamford.

He also leaves his nine grandchildren who adored their Grampa but the feeling was mutual: Emily, Tim Jr., Mary Kate, Michael Jr., Kelsey, Brianna, Devyn, Cody and Owen. Bob also leaves his brother David Fox of Massachusetts and he was predeceased by his two brothers, Richard Jr. and James Fox.
