Paul Anthony Moretti

Paul Anthony Moretti, age 46, of Milford and formerly of Monroe, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Born in Bridgeport on December 3, 1976, he was a son of Caterina Moretti Fortin and her husband Dennis of Milford and Albert Paul Moretti of Las Vegas, Nev. Lovingly known as Tony, he was a graduate of the Masuk High School, Class of 1994, and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Springfield College in 1998.

Tony was a physical education teacher at Monroe Elementary, Fawn Hollow and Stepney schools for 19 years, where he was loved by all and was an inspiration to many of the youth in town. Tony was currently employed by the City of Bridgeport Board of Education at Park City Magnet School.

He was a fixture amongst the Masuk High School football coaching staff since 2001, where he helped lead the Panthers to five state title games, taking home two championships.

Tony also regularly volunteered his time coaching youth football in Monroe and was a long-time softball coach for the Connecticut Seahawks, where his daughters played.

A passionate educator, Coach Tony left an everlasting impression on all of his students and players with his infectious smile, unfettered dedication and timeless loyalty.

He was a music lover, sports enthusiast and avid fan of the Yankees, Giants, Knicks and Duke basketball. He treasured movies and trivia, a combination that made him a fearful Jeopardy opponent of his closest family and friends.

Above all things in life, his greatest gift was his role of being a father. He was truly a “Girl Dad” and loved every minute of it. Whether he was at a school play or concert, on a court or field; Tony was there to cheer and support his girls. He was their biggest fan and was ever so proud of them. He would brighten your day with a hug or a smile no matter how bad your day was.

Tony will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his loving mother Cathy and her husband Dennis and his father Albert, survivors include his cherished and adored daughters, Ava Francesca, and Gianna Elizabeth, and their mother Elizabeth Moretti all of Monroe, his dedicated brother Joe Moretti and his wife Taina, his cherished nephews, Joey and Luca Moretti, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends and students.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Pasquale and Mariantonia Federici and Albert Paul and Mary Moretti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 11 a.m. directly in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe.
