Reminder: Monroe’s polls are open for this Tuesday’s election

MONROE, CT — Close to 40 percent of Monroe’s registered voters already cast early ballots for the Presidential Election and state races. Today residents are going to the polls to vote in person. As of Monday afternoon, Monroe had 13,517 registered voters and 5,293 had voted via early voting or same day registration for a turnout of just over 39 percent. Of those voting early were 1,454 registered Democrats, 1,484 Republicans, 2,283 unaffiliated and 72 from other parties. Aldi celebrates grand opening of Monroe store

MONROE, CT — Shoppers welcomed the new Aldi supermarket to town with open arms Thursday morning, filling the parking lot in the upper level of Town Line Plaza, 205 Monroe Turnpike, and joining the long line of people anxiously waiting for the manager to open its doors. Some parked in the Panera Bread parking lot on the lower level and walked up the sidewalk to shop and the steady stream of traffic going in and out of the driveway seemed endless. Masuk swim and dive team impresses at championship meet

WESTON, CT — The Masuk High girls swimming and diving team had some standout performances in the South-West Conference Championships. The Panthers came in fifth as a team with a score of 232. Pomperaug of Southbury was first with a score of 562. The swim events were held at Weston Middle School on Saturday after the diving finals took place at New Fairfield High on Oct. 30.
