Tip-A-Cop at Jennie’s Pizzeria to raise funds for Special Olympics

MONROE, CT — Officers with the Monroe Police Department will host a Tip-A-Cop event to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut at Jennie’s Pizzeria, 380 Monroe Turnpike, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, between 5 and 9 p.m. During the event, law enforcement will volunteer their time to work with restaurant employees and welcome customers, take orders and serve meals to diners. All tips the officers receive will be dedicated to helping Special Olympics Connecticut provide life-changing sports, health and fitness programs to athletes of all abilities. Aldi celebrates grand opening of Monroe store

MONROE, CT — Shoppers welcomed the new Aldi supermarket to town with open arms Thursday morning, filling the parking lot in the upper level of Town Line Plaza, 205 Monroe Turnpike, and joining the long line of people anxiously waiting for the manager to open its doors. Record set as Masuk swimmers and divers make big postseason splash

The Masuk High girls swimming and diving team placed eighth, with 266 points, in the Class M State Championships. Masuk had a team record-setting performance from swimmer Lena Savkovic among its tremendous results. Diving championships took place in Middletown on Nov. 6, swim trials were in Cheshire Nov. 9 and the swim finals were at Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford on Nov. 12.
