Panther skaters post tie and victory

Masuk High’s hockey team remains unbeaten since its second contest of the year, battling the Joel Barlow co-op to a 2-2 tie at Danbury Ice Arena on Feb. 15 and toppling visiting Guilford 9-5 at The Rinks at Shelton on Feb. 18. The Panthers improved to 15-1-2 overall.

Against Barlow, Christian LaBella and Nick Kondub scored and A.J. Michetti, Kyle Sutfin, Drew Scalia and Luke Kondub all had assists. Maddex LaFountain was in goal.

Nick Kondub had a goal against the Barlow co-op and logged a goal and two assists in a win over Guilford.

In the Guilford game, Scalia scored three times and had three assists for a whopping six points, Austin Braiewa scored twice and Michetti, Colin Deering and Nick and Luke Kondub also lit the lamp.

LaBella and Nick and Luke Kobdub, along with Deering, each registered two assists and Sutfin added an assist. LaFountain was between the pipes for the win.

Masuk’s next game is Monday, Feb. 20, when the Panthers visit Hall in West Hartford at 7:20 p.m.
