Masuk boys basketball edged by St. Joes, makes tournament

TRUMBULL, CT — The Masuk boys basketball team lost a 78-76 nail-biter in its season-finale at St. Joseph on Saturday, but the Panthers still earned an invitation to the South-West Conference Tournament.

The Panthers, 5-8 in SWC play and 9-11 overall, earned the tourney’s No. 8 seed and will visit top seed Notre Dame-Fairfield, in the quarterfinals, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m.

Notre Dame was unbeaten in the SWC at 13-0 and went 18-2 overall during the regular season.
