Nick Kondub nets 100th point as Masuk hockey team begins season

Nick Kondub competes in the state championship game last winter. Kondub has two goals and two assists and recorded his 100th career point in the season opener.

The Masuk High boys hockey team began the season with a 5-4 overtime loss to Staples at Milford Ice Pavilion on Dec. 13.

Nick Kondub factored into each Masuk goal with two net-finders and a pair of assists. He notched his 100th career point on the assist on Christian LaBella’s second-period tally.

LaBella also recorded an assist, Ryan Ewald had a goal and an assist, James Cybart recorded two assists and Luke Kondub added an assist. Maddex LaFountain was in net.

The Panthers fell 7-3 to New Milford at The Rinks at Shelton on Saturday. LaBella scored twice, Luke Kondub had a goal and two assists, and Nick Kondub and Cybart both had assists. LaFountain and Andy Guerrera split time in net.

The next game is Wednesday, Dec. 20, when Norwalk/McMahon visits Shelton at 8 p.m.
