Newsom’s late basket leads to Masuk win

Tyler Newsom races up the floor as he looks to score.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Tyler Newsom’s basket with eight seconds remaining broke a tie and sent the Masuk High boys basketball team to a thrilling 56-54 win at Pomperaug on Thursday night.

Newsom, who recently had another dramatic game winning shot in a game against Weston, poured in 27 points against Pomperaug.

Matt Domenichelli scored nine, Alex Simoulidis scored seven, Mitch DeBernardo and Oliver Irving each contributed four, Colin Francisco added three and Ethan Palma tacked on two in the win.
