Position: Pre-K special education teacher at Monroe Elementary School
Background: I taught at Mohegan Elementary School in Shelton before coming to Monroe.
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to Mahopac, N.Y., when I was 19. I have been living in Sandy Hook for the past nine years.
Education: I have a B.S. in behavioral science and an M.S. in early childhood education from Mercy University. I am currently attending Sacred Heart University, working toward my Sixth Year Degree in Literacy.
What do you like most about being a teacher?
I truly enjoy getting to know my students and their families. It is extremely rewarding to witness the children’s excitement when they achieve something new, and to watch their growth from the beginning to the end of the school year.
What are you most excited about working in Monroe?
In the short time I’ve been at Monroe, just about a month, I’ve found everyone I’ve met — administrators, office staff and other building staff — to be incredibly welcoming and supportive. I’ve already begun collaborating with the Pre-K team, and can clearly see a strong sense of teamwork and respect for one another’s ideas. I look forward to being a part of the Monroe community.
