Stepney Hardware had closed early this year, after a 64-year-run, but its space at Bart Center will not be empty for long. Aubuchon Hardware, the oldest family-owned and managed hardware store chain in America, plans to open a new location at 590 Main St. by the fourth quarter of this year.

SCRE brokered the deal for its client, Aubuchon Hardware, to lease 10,619 square feet of retail space.

Aubuchon Hardware hopes to fill the void left since Stepney Hardware closed in January, leaving Monroe residents without their neighborhood hardware store.

Aubuchon Hardware  was founded by William E. Aubuchon in 1908 and has grown with more than 100 stores in New England and upstate New York.

SCRE was formed by Penny P. Wickey in 2004 and is a full-service commercial real estate brokerage company located in Westport, Connecticut. SCRE is a nationally certified Woman Owned Enterprise and represents retail and office tenants, landlords, developers and investors in leasing, sales and investments.
