Monroe registrars are offering early voting for Presidential Primaries this week

MONROE, CT — The Registrars Office at Monroe Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road, is offering early voting for the Presidential Preference Primary elections today (Tuesday, March 26) until 6 p.m. and will offer it again from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The Presidential Primaries on April 2 and the town budget referendum on May 7 with St. Jude School, 707 Monroe Turnpike, being the sole voting place from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.

A Presidential Preference Primary is an election in which voters decide on their preferred party candidate for president in the upcoming General Election. Only registered Democrats or Republicans may vote in these Primaries.

Voters from Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4 will all vote in the St. Jude gym.

Voter Registration for Early Voting

Those who are not yet registered, but want to vote during the early voting period before the Presidential Preference Primary, may file their voter registration application (for a party holding a primary) with the Registrars of Voters in their town by noon on the business day before the day they want to vote. 

April 1, 2024 at noon is the deadline for registering in person with the Registrars of Voters or town clerk in your town of residence to vote on April 2; and it is the deadline for unaffiliated voters to enroll in a party in person for voting on April 2.

The easiest and quickest way to register to vote is online. If you have a valid Connecticut driver’s license, learner’s permit or non-driver photo ID card issued by the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, click here to register online.

You may also print a voter registration card here and mail it to the Registrars of Voters’ Office at Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road. Mailed applications must be postmarked by March 15, 2024.

Those planning to register to vote in person, may do so at the Registrar of Voters’ Office until Monday, April 1, 2024 by noon. Bring ID and proof of residence.

There will be no Same Day Registration for these Primaries.
