Monroe hard at work clearing roads, driveways, walkways from this weekend’s snow

Dan Firda uses a snowblower to clear off his driveway Monday.

MONROE, Conn. — Plow truck drivers busily cleared snow away from town roads in the aftermath of this weekend’s blizzard Monday, while residents and business owners broke out their shovels. Many used snowblowers and some even had their own tractors and plows to get the job done.

Dan Firda was bundled up, while using his snowblower. “I dislike it,” he said. “That’s why we need the equipment — in the Northeast anyway.”

The snow may be a lot of work but, as disruptive as storms are, they do create a winter wonderland some enjoy.
“It looks nice for now,” Fidra said.
