Masuk’s reigning champion golf squad looks to repeat

The Masuk High golfers won the SWC Championship last season.

MONROE, Conn. — Last year’s memorable run to the South-West Conference title may be in the rearview mirror, but the Masuk High girls golfers have their eyes on the road ahead with hopes for repeat success.

The Panthers return a bulk of their talent from last spring, four starters, giving the team reason for optimism as the Panthers tee off and take to the fairways and greens this campaign.

In addition to trying to repeat in the conference the Panthers are looking for a first- or second-place finish in the state tourney.

“The task will be tough in the SWC with teams like Brookfield and Weston both on the rise. In addition, Berlin is always a powerhouse along with several other teams in states,” Coach Bob Pagel said.

Captains to lead the way are Abby Yeager, Alex Cecchino, Emma McIntyre and Adriana Lupo.

The season begins Wednesday, April 8, with a visit to Notre Dame Prep at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course at 3 p.m.
