Masuk wrestlers crown winner in SWC Championships

Dominic Smeraglino won the SWC Championship in the 120 pound weight class.

STRATFORD, Conn. — Masuk High’s wrestling team had some stellar results on the mats at Saturday’s South-West Conference Championships, hosted by Bunnell High.

In the 120 pound weight division, Dominic Smeraglino won the title by posting a 10-0 major decision over Weston’s James Lemmis.

The Panthers had two others in the finals. Anthony King lost via technical fall to Bunnell’s Mael Pierre-Paul in the 126 weight class and Griffin Allen was runner-up at 150, pinned by New Milford’s Dylan Bueno. Masuk’s Derek Huber placed third at 113 and Dylahn Perez came in fourth at 144.

As a team, Masuk came in fifth with 103 points. New Milford was first with 191.5.
