Masuk volleyball team begins state play with convincing win

Mary-Kate Boyle and the Panthers won their state playoff opener.

MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s girls volleyball team started Class L State Tournament play with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-6) win over visiting Hartford Public on Monday.

No. 10 Masuk eliminated No. 23 Hartford Public and advances to visit No. 7 Bristol Central in the second round on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Mia Tyler had 6 aces, 3 kills, 32 assists, 3 digs. Addison Scott logged 6 aces, 21 kills, 4 digs. Lily Yerrington racked up 8 kills with a better than .500 hitting percentage. Grace Kehoe logged 5 kills, 1 block, 3 digs. Abby Urkawich contributed 4 kills, 8 digs. Mary-Kate Boyle recorded 12 digs, 5 assists.
