Masuk volleyball and tennis teams win

Masuk High’s boys volleyball team extended its winning streak to five matches with 3-2 win at home over Pomperaug on Tuesday and a 3-0 victory at Brookfield the next night.

Against Pomperaug, Nathan McCauley registered 22 kills, Dan Ferris had 11 kills, Nathan Kurkoski compiled 38 assists and Christian DaEria had 10 digs.

Against Brookfield, Ferris logged 14 kills and Kukoski had 24 assists including his 1,000th.

Tennis success

Masuk’s girls tennis team topped host Notre Dame-Fairfield 6-1 on Wednesday to remain unbeaten in conference play. No. 1 singles player Lexi Goldberg Friedman won 6-0, 6-0, No. 2 Meghan Velky won 6-2, 6-1 and No. 4 Elizabeth Teixeira was a 6-0, 6-0 winner.

In doubles play, Masuk’s tandems all won: Lelia Giampe and Chloe Norton (6-0, 6-0), Samantha Davoren and Madison Poisson ( 6-4, 6-0) and Olivia Beloblosky and Karen Rios (6-0, 6-1).
