Masuk Unified basketball team competes in front of big crowd

Tom Cremin and Manuella Figuerdo play for Masuk.

MONROE, CT — The Masuk High Unified Basketball team took to the court and was in the spotlight during halftime of the varsity boys game on Thursday.

Great sportsmanship, athleticism and competitiveness were on full display as special needs athletes and partners/school peers there to assist when needed, competed with Newtown’s Unified squad in a friendly battle.

There were some great passes, shots at the rim, and even some slam dunks on the lower baskets. Players had the option of shooting into the regulation hoops or lower ones set up under the main backboards.

A great time was had by all as evidenced by smiles all around and tremendous support from an enthusiastic crowd of students and parents who packed the bleachers.

Manuella Figuerdo (No. 40), and teammate Hadessa Gee play ball against Newtown.
