The Masuk Theater Department brought magic to life with a whimsical character breakfast on Feb. 25, where local families could mingle with the beloved characters starring in the upcoming musical.

The event proved to be an unforgettable experience, one that doubled ticket sales and left guests that were in attendance eager for opening night.

The cast and crew turned the morning into an enchanting affair as they served pancakes and other breakfast favorites, while holding a raffle. Every dollar raised went to the Theater Department, marking the breakfast as a huge success.

Those in attendance got a sneak peek into the show as the cast performed some songs from the show, including “There Is Music In You,” “Loneliness Of Evenings,” “A Lovely Night,” and “The Prince Is Giving A Ball.” Each number received a tremendously positive reaction and enthusiastic applause.

Meanwhile, other cast members made their way around to each table, immersing the guests in the magic of the production and creating picture-perfect moments.

With its heartwarming atmosphere, dazzling performances, and overwhelming display of community support, Masuk’s Character Breakfast was nothing short of an incredible success.

“Cinderella” is the fourth show that Michael Katz, director and Masuk alum from the Class of 2016, and Sharon Bartek, producer, have worked on together.

The musical features all of the well known characters from the original movie: Maya Fisher as Cinderella, Daniel Fontana as Prince Topher, Muriel Bailey as Marie, better known as Ella’s fairy godmother, and of course, the step-family, with Ava Alves as Madame, Adeline Kellogg as Gabrielle, and Sammy Davoren as Charlotte.

Some more familiar faces among the characters include: William Barrett as Jean-Michel, an enthusiastic revolutionary determined to make a difference, Dennell Sidne as Sebastian, Prince Topher’s second in command who proves to have some questionable morals, and Allison Catalan as Lady Pinkelton, Sebastian’s second-in-command and the herald for all balls and events.

With large, exciting dance numbers, lovable characters, and an amazing set, “Cinderella” will be Masuk’s biggest production to date. The backstage crew has built a wonderful set with the help of Doug Katz, Michael Katz’s father, and the cast’s incredible costumes have been donated by generous high schools within the state of Connecticut.

The entire cast and crew have been working diligently to produce an incredible show that is sure to leave a lasting impression on the audience for years to come.
