MONROE, CT — Masuk High hosted the South-West Conference swimming championships on Saturday and had quite a showing with 26 best season times among 28 swims, taking home five medals in the process.
“I’m very happy with that and I can’t wait to see how they do at state trials and finals,” Panther Coach Emily DeMace said.
The team placed eighth. Pomperaug of Southbury edged Weston to capture the team title.
Lena Savkovic was second in the 50 yard freestyle race in a time of 25.47 and was third in the 100 backstroke event in 1:02.14. Izzy Murzinska took fifth in the backstroke with a time of 1:04.00.

Masuk’s 200 free relay team of Murzinska, Savkovic, Laney Stillway and Skye Eannotti placed fifth in 1:49.09.
The 400 free relay team comprising Julia Iannotta, Anastazja Makecka, Stella Oliveira and Elizabeth Glus was sixth in 4:22.56.
Masuk had two more results in the top 10. The 200 medley relay team was seventh; Savkovic, Stillway, Murzinska and Eannotti finished in 2:02.97.
Eannotti took eighth in the 500 freestyle in 6:02.46.
