Masuk swimmers battle Brookfield, prepare for Senior Night

Alex Malecki and the Panthers are getting ready for the regular-season finale, home against New Fairfield, on February 21.

MONROE, CT — The Masuk High boys swim team traveled to Brookfield on Feb. 14 and fell 93-81, but had some strong swims in the meet. The Panthers are home Tuesday, Feb. 21, to take on New Fairfield for Senior Night at 6 p.m. This is the last meet of the regular season.

During the meet against Brookfield, Masuk’s 200 yard medley relay team of Jack McHugh, Carter Adragna, Sam McHugh and Riley Sheppard was second in 1:48.84.

Brendan Kirberger won the 200 freestyle race in 1:57.83. Adragna was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:16.22. Sheppard came in second in the 50 free in 24.47.

Sam McHugh was second in the 100 butterfly event in 58.28. In the 100 free, Sheppard was first in 54.69 and Alex Malecki second in 55.51. Kirberger won the 500, making his final touch in 5:07.33.

In the 200 free relay event, Jayden Maragh, Thomas Rodriguez, Gavin Gabriel and Trent Pierson came in second in 1:45.52.

Sam McHugh took first in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.48. Owen Smith was second in the 100 breaststroke race in 1:14.32.

The 400 free relay of Malecki, Brendan McHugh, Sam McHugh and Sheppard was first in 3:41.28.
