NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The boys swimming and diving season wrapped up with the State Open this week — diving was held in Middletown on Thursday and the swim events at Yale University Saturday. Masuk High’s competitors finished on a positive note with some strong performances.
Diver Jake Ryan was 12th with 331 points. The Panther coaches are proud of Ryan and all he has accomplished and noted that they are looking forward to the school record-setting sophomore get better as he continues his high school diving career.
In the swimming events, Masuk’s 200 Yard Medley Relay team placed third in its heat with a time of 1:41:44 finishing as the 14th seed in the state. This relay consisted of Mason Eannotti, Aidan Cammarano, Jack McHugh and Will Hardy.
In the 200 Yard Individual Medley, Eannotti took fourth place in his heat with a time of 1:59:49 finishing as the 10th seed in the state.
Masuk’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay was sixth in its heat with a time of 1:33:06 finishing as the 24th seed. This relay consisted of McHugh, Matthew Buzinaro, Hardy and Eannotti.
In the 100 Yard Backstroke, McHugh was second in his heat with a time of 55:64 finishing as the 18th seed in the state in this event. Also, in the Backstroke, Eannotti and Hardy were fifth and sixth, respectively, in their heat. Eannotti had a time of 53:36 and Hardy’s time was 53:74, Eannotti was sixth overall and Hardy eighth.
McHugh and Cammarano both finished their high school careers strong and their coaches said they are proud of all of their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. The Masuk coaching staff is pleased with the efforts and results of all of the competitors and looking forward to next season.
