Grace Ely throws a pitch during a home game this spring. Ely two-hit Barlow in a 13-0 win on May 1.

MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s softball team compiled a baker’s dozen of runs in a win over visiting Joel Barlow on Monday, then repeated that offensive success — times two — the next game, following up the 13-0 win over Barlow with a 26-0 triumph at Bunnell on Wednesday. Both games were five-inning, mercy-rule victories.

Against Barlow, Grace Ely surrendered just two hits over five innings, striking out eight batters and walking one. Natalie Lieto went 2-for-2 with two home runs. Sofia Lieto went 3-for-3 with three singles.

Ely helped her own cause as she went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. Alyssa Castillo, Isabella Holsworth and Aubrey Zvovushe-Ramos contributed with a single each.

In the win over Bunnell, Julia Bacoulis allowed just one hit over three innings, striking out two batters and walking none. Ely pitched a pair of no-hitting innings to assist in the combined shutout. Natalie Lieto went 3-for-3 with two home runs and a triple, getting her 100th hit for the Masuk varsity program.

Isabella Holsworth and the Masuk offense continues to pile up runs.

Ella Bunovsky went 3-for-4 with singles. Izzy Viglione went 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Alyssa Castillo went 1-for-1 with a double. Sofia Lieto went 1-for-2 with a double. Bacoulis was not only dominant in her innings in the pitcher’s circle, but also went 2-for-3 with a single and a double.

Ely again contributed at the plate, as well. She went 2-for-4 with two singles. Holsworth went 2-for-2 with a single and a double. Zvovushe-Ramos went 1-for-1 with a single.

Masuk, 12-1 overall, is gearing up for two out-of-conference tests in as many days. The Panthers visit RHAM Friday, May 5, at 4:15 p.m. and travel to Waterford the next day for a game at 12 p.m.
