MONROE, CT — Down to its final four outs, the host Masuk High softball team rallied for an exciting 3-2 come-from-behind victory over New Fairfield in the SWC Tournament quarterfinals on Sunday.
No. 7 New Fairfield carried a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning and was one out away from escaping trouble when Aubrey Zvovushe-Ramos delivered a three-run hit.
The Panthers had runners at second and third and New Fairfield walked Josie Lieto to load the bases and set the stage for the decisive hit.
No. 2 Masuk will take on No. 3 Newtown in the semifinals at Stratford’s DeLuca Field Tuesday at 7 p.m.
