Masuk senior wins DAR American History Award

Sameeha Yara Malak Shaik

MONROE, CT — Sameeha Yara Malak Shaik, a Masuk High School senior, was chosen by her school to receive the Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution Outstanding Work in American History certificate and bronze medal for her excellence in American history and overall academic character.

Sameeha plans to become a doctor so she can help others. Her Linkedin profile reflects her desire to help people in need. She put this to practice when she volunteered at Hartford Hospital and participated in events for assisted living facilities in the Bridgeport area.

SRH-MS Chapter American History Chair Cheryl Basztura noted that the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) wish to recognize and award students for outstanding work in American History with a NSDAR Certificate and bronze medal. The presentation of the award and medal were given to Ms. Shaik on May 30, 2024 at a ceremony at Masuk High School.

DAR promotes American history throughout the year and encourages everyone to be more informed about their heritage. The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter participates in the American History Awards annually and thanks area schools for recognizing their high school students who excel in American History.

The DAR is a non-profit women’s service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education and patriotism.
