Masuk hockey team bounces back after finally dropping one

Noah Comacho takes a shot in Masuk's win over Shepaug.

Masuk High’s hockey team cruised to a 15-0 start before finally hitting a bump in the ice — a 4-1 loss to BBDI (Brookfield, Bethel, Danbury, Immaculate) on Feb. 16 — but bounced back with a 4-1 win over STORMAC (Staples, Norwalk, McMahon) two nights later.

Goaltender Maddex LaFountain earned the shutout against Shepaug.

The Panthers had extended their winning ways in shutout fashion as goaltender Maddex LaFountain shut the door on visiting Shepaug 3-0 at the Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton on Feb. 11. Graham Cybart notched two goals and an assist, Luke Kondub had a goal and an assist and Tommy DaPonte registered an assist.

In the loss to BBDI, in Shelton, Kondub scored and Teddy Walsh had an assist.

Masuk beat STORMAC at its home rink, Milford Ice Pavilion. Cybart scored twice and DaPonte and Michael Leventakos also lit the lamp. Walsh recorded two assists and Kondub and Chase DeSanto also had assists.

Masuk is scheduled to host Hall for Senior Night in Shelton Monday at 8 p.m. but the forecast is not looking so good for that one. The Panthers have three games left until the postseason.
