MONROE, Conn. — The No. 2 Masuk High girls lacrosse team defeated No. 7 Pomperaug of Southbury 19-4 in the South-West Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Charlotte Pinto and Bailey Bajda both scored five goals and Emma Troesser scored twice to lead the attack. Clare Fulchino and Troesser combined for 13 draw controls and goaltender Maddie Farrer made a handful of saves.
The Panthers will host No. 3 Newtown in the semis on Thursday at 4:45 p.m. Masuk fell 8-6 at Newtown in the regular season, on May 14. Troesser scored three times and Pinto netted two in that game. The winner advances to the Tuesday, May 26 title game at Western Connecticut State University at 7 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 1 New Fairfield takes on No. 4 Joel Barlow of Redding.
