NEW MILFORD, Conn. — The No. 11 Masuk High girls basketball team went on the road and upset No. 6 New Milford 50-48 in the play-in round of the South-West Conference Tournament on Tuesday night.
Emma Troesser led the way with 19 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter. Grace Sheppard scored 17 and hit clutch shots in the third quarter to keep the Panthers in the game after falling behind by nine.
Maddie Farrer scored eight points and had a big defensive stop on the final play of the game. Farrer broke a late tie with a clutch basket and free throw. New Milford got to within a point, but Troesser had a huge steal and basket increasing Masuk’s lead to three points, and the Panthers held on.
Sydney Lampley and Izzy DeBernardo added four and two points, respectively.
Masuk advances to play at No. 3 Bethel in the quarterfinals Thursday at 6 p.m.
