MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s field hockey team improved to 9-2 with a 2-0 win over visiting Joel Barlow on Friday night. The Panthers got goals from Amelia Logan and Molly Halliday.
The Panthers were coming off a 2-0 loss at Immaculate on Monday. Prior to that game, Masuk reeled off four consecutive victories, most recently a 3-0 win over Brookfield on Sept. 30, two days after a 2-1 edging of Weston.
Logan and Halliday were the scorers in the Weston game. Sam Henry, Logan and Ella Bunovsky scored against Brookfield. The Sept. 30 game included a fundraiser for Dawn Davis and her family as part of the team’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month efforts and a total of $3,400 was raised by the team and its fans.
Masuk heads into a Monday, Oct. 10, clash with visiting FCIAC team St. Joseph at 6:45 p.m., followed by three South-West Conference matchups to close out the season, looking to maintain its winning ways heading into the playoffs.
Coach Kathleen Foley noted that athleticism, endurance and energy has carried the team thus far.
Masuk visits Bethel on Oct. 12 and New Fairfield on Oct. 17, both at 4 p.m., before hosting New Milford on Oct. 19 at 6:45 p.m.
