SOUTHBURY, CT — In a clash between the Panthers, the Masuk High girls basketball team lost 53-39 to host Pomperaug in the South-West Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday.
Pomperaug is the SWC’s top seed and Masuk was the No. 8 team in the bracket.
Masuk trailed 18-14 after one quarter of play and just 24-22 at the half. Pomperaug pulled ahead 42-27 through three quarters of play.
Bailey Bajda scored 11 points, Grace Kearney had 10, Hannah Fagan dropped in six, Maia Ventresca contributed five and Natalie Lieto added four.
The Masuk squad will look to bounce back in state tournament play.
