Masuk drops first baseball game, set for home opener

TRUMBULL, CT — The baseball season opener did not go Masuk High’s way despite solid pitching from Quinn McGuire. The Panthers were blanked 3-0 at Trumbull on Saturday.

The Eagles scored one run in the first inning and two in the second before being blanked the rest of the way. McGuire pitched 4 1/3 innings. He allowed just one earned run, striking out 4 four and allowing six hits.

Evan Alderman had two hits and stole a base for the Panthers. Jackson Zylick added a single and Justin Feinstein reached base twice.

Ryan Johnston scored two runs and reached base three time for the Eagles. Aiden Stewart had three hits and Sam Kubie had two hits for Trumbull.

Jack Larkin got the win on the mound for Trumbull pitching five innings and giving up two hits while striking out three. Aiden Stewart pitched the final two innings striking out four.

Masuk plays its home opener on Monday, April 1, against Brien McMahon at 4 p.m.
