Masuk cashes in on turnovers to pull away from Stratford

STRATFORD, CT — Masuk’s football team forced six turnovers, while beating the Stratford Red Devils on their home turf, 34-6 in a driving rain Thursday night. Masuk improved to 4-3 and Stratford fell to 3-4.

Jake Viglione intercepted a pass to set up his four-yard TD run to get the scoring started. Brayden Callahan’s nine-yard TD run gave the Panthers a 13-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter the Red Devils scored on a fumble recovery to get back to within a touchdown. Masuk’s Tanner Walker got the next two scores, finding the end zone on a 59-yard run in the third and rushing 29 yards for a TD in the fourth. Aidan Diaz capped the scoring with a fumble recovery for a TD.

Walker had 11 carries for 129 yards to go along with his two touchdowns. Michael Charland had 19 carries for 97 yards. Callahan nine carries for 52 yards and a TD. On defense, Callahan logged seven tackles, including a tackle for a loss and an interception.

Nate Archer recorded four tackles, two for a loss, and a quarterback sack.

Masuk hosts Joel Barlow Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.
