MILFORD, CT — The Masuk boys soccer team played stifling defense to shutout the Platt Tech Panthers on the No. 4 seed’s own field, while earning a 3-0 second-round victory in the CIAC tournament game at the Orange Avenue Athletic Complex Thursday afternoon.

Cole Rigby started the scoring for Masuk in the first quarter for an early 1-0 lead.

Around a minute later, Cash Dewey was fouled in the box. Co-Captain Tristan Pike made the ensuing penalty kick, increasing Masuk’s lead to 2-0.

In the second half, Kevin Carreon’s shot on goal went through the goalie’s legs and Cole Rigby netted his second goal of the afternoon with a follow-up shot to close out the scoring.

With the win, Masuk will advance to the third round of the CIAC tournament. On Saturday the Panthers will travel to Suffield to take on the No. 5 seed. The game time is to be determined.
