MONROE, CT — The Masuk Boys Cross Country team equaled its best finish ever by placing 12th in the Class MM State Championships on Saturday. The Panthers had accomplished this once before in 2016.

Freshman Sebastian Riera led the way with a 45th place finish, the highest individual placing since 2016.

The team’s hallmark all year has been pack running and this meet was no exception as only 53 seconds separated Riera from fifth man, freshman Brayden Hershberger, in 77th place. In between were seniors Jackson Rader in 60th, Jacob Urkawich in 61st and Jonathan Ganino in 72nd.

Juniors Michael Majersky and Jeremy Gniadek were the other Panther runners in the competition.

The team also finished with a 6-win-7-loss dual meet record in the SWC, the most wins registered in many years.

  1. Was this at Wickham Park in Manchester? I heard that they postponed some of the races to today because people were passing out because of the heat on Saturday.
