Masuk beats Cadets. Bring on the battle of the Panthers!

MONROE, CT — Coming off an 11-6 win over the visiting St. Joseph Cadets in the first round of the Class M State Tournament on Tuesday, the Masuk High girls lacrosse team is set to travel to Pomperaug of Southbury for a clash between South-West Conference Panthers.

The teams will meet for the third time this spring on Friday at 5 p.m. It will be a quarterfinal-round clash as No. 5 Masuk looks for its second win over No. 4 Pomperaug following two very tightly-contested matchups between the foes.

Masuk won the regular season meeting 7-6 in overtime and Pomperaug won the SWC quarterfinal matchup 9-7.

In the state playoff-opening win over the No. 12 Cadets, Sam Henry notched three goals, had an assist, caused four turnovers and won 10 draw controls. Lilly Cameron had three goals and Charlotte Pinto had three goals and an assist.

Goaltender Sophie Clark made seven saves.
