Masuk High’s baseball team followed up a 10-7 loss to host Pomperaug on April 24 with a pair of convincing wins, 16-2 at Bassick on Monday and 17-1 over visiting Harding on Wednesday. The second victory was highlighted by a trio of home runs, including a grand slam.
Against Bassick, Nate O’Hara led the offense with three hits (triple and two singles) and three runs batted in. Nico Convertito and Eddie Simpson each contributed two hits and a pair of RBIs. Austin Couto got the win on the mound pitching four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit, striking out six. Austin Patti pitched a scoreless inning of relief striking out three.
In the Harding game, Sam Giampe got the win on the mound pitching four innings, giving up one run on one hit and striking out six. At the plate, Matt Boyle hit a solo home run, Ethan Fonck hit a three-run home run, Nico Convertito blasted a grand slam, Jerson Perez had two hits, an RBI and stole two bases, and Nate O’Hara had three hits and two RBI.
