Jennifer Roman’s ‘contagious laughter, never-ending smiles will be forever missed’

Jennifer Evelyn Singleton Roman, of East Lyme unexpectedly passed away on May 28, 2024 at the young age of 51. An amazing mother, sister, aunt, teacher and friend, those who were lucky enough to have Jenn in their life know how truly special she was. Her contagious laughter and never-ending smiles will be forever missed.

Jenn was born to John and Evelyn Roman in Bridgeport, CT on July 25, 1972. She grew up in Monroe, CT. Her childhood was filled with summers at her family’s cottage at Rogers Lake in Old Lyme, CT, always surrounded by cousins, friends, family and celebrations.

She graduated from Masuk High School where she was active in the school band with her love for music. Jenn graduated from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY with a degree in education and later received her masters degree. While in college, Jenn enjoyed performing in theater arts.

Jenn excelled at her talent to educate and enlighten elementary school students and loved seeing the students thrive. She went on to share her gift of teaching across schools in Connecticut, North Carolina, New Jersey, and Kentucky.

Jenn’s most proud accomplishment was her two beautiful daughters. Rarely a conversation would go by without her glowing over Emma, 16, and Abby, 14.

Jenn is survived by her children Emma Singleton, Abby Singleton, her brother Jay Roman and his wife Allison Roman of Trumbull, and her brother Christopher Roman of Branford; Nephew and Godson Michael Roman, nieces Lyla Roman, Stella Roman and niece and Goddaughter Tessa Roman. Jenn was predeceased by her parents Evelyn and John Roman.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 10, at 11 a.m. in the Christ the King Church, 1 McCurdy Road, Old Lyme, Conn. A luncheon will immediately follow in the church hall. All are welcome to join to pay their respects and celebrate Jenn.
