Grandchildren, future children deserve same great education my kids got 42 years ago

To the Editor:

I have been reading all the articles and comments from my fellow Monrovians; you all make valid points and are passionate about our children’s education. That being said, can someone comment (guesstimate) how much my taxes would go up to offset this $1.6 million?

I moved to Monroe 42 years ago, having grown up in Norwalk, for the schools. My three children graduated from Masuk; six of my 10 grandchildren, who also live in Monroe have already graduated from Masuk with four more following right behind them.

I am not wealthy, I am retired, and I lost my husband seven years ago. However, if my taxes had to go up so that my remaining four grandchildren, and their future children can get the same great education that my kids got 42 years ago, I don’t think that’s much to ask.

Respectfully,

Dee Haughney
